Install and uninstall notes

Install and uninstall commands.

Screenshot Clock is installed from Terminal. The commands are short, local, and reversible.

Checks

Confirms it is running on a Mac.

The command stops if it is not on macOS.

Installs

Adds a small local setup.

It creates local commands and, in recommended mode, a user LaunchAgent watcher.

Prompts

Asks before changing settings.

You choose screenshot name, folder, time mode, and floating thumbnail behavior.

What changes

Small local files, clear settings, reversible setup.

Local support folder: setup stores its files under your user Library Application Support folder.

Reusable commands: setup can add macosscreenshot and macosscreenshot-uninstall under your user-local bin path.

Optional watcher: recommended mode renames screenshots after macOS creates them.

Restore snapshot: first install saves managed screenshot settings before changing them.

System clock: the recommended mode does not change the visible Mac clock.

Floating thumbnail: the installer asks whether to disable the floating screenshot preview thumbnail for faster renaming. The default is to keep it on.

Uninstall

Uninstall removes the local setup.

Run the public uninstall command, use the local macosscreenshot-uninstall command, or open the local Uninstall macOS Screenshot.command file created during setup.

curl -fsSL https://tools.kelownafilmstudios.com/macosscreenshot/uninstall.sh | zsh

The dollar sign is visual only. The copied command starts with curl.

Restores

Uses the saved snapshot when it can.

Uninstall restores the saved screenshot name, screenshot folder, floating thumbnail preference, and 24-hour clock override key when those settings were captured on first install.

Fallback

Clears only managed keys.

If no saved restore settings exist, uninstall deletes the managed screenshot keys so macOS falls back to its normal defaults.

Leaves alone

No time zone or screenshot cleanup.

The tool records time zone for reference only. It does not change or restore time zones, and uninstall does not delete screenshot files or folders.
